New play equipment for Exeter youngsters to enjoy

Summer may be over but children still have reason to smile this autumn – new play equipment at Great Hill View Play Area! Children can now enjoy a wider range of play equipment at the site, thanks to Exeter City Council.

A new basket swing, and exciting spinning and rocking roundabout has been provided, along with a goal end incorporating football and basketball provision . These items add to the existing equipment which includes the longest slide in any of Exeter’s parks.

New cycle hire scheme launched at Exeter St Davids

In partnership with First Great Western a Brompton folding bike hire scheme, Brompton Dock, has now launched at Exeter St Davids station.

Taxpayers' money 'wasted on management review'

Taxpayers' money has been 'wasted' on a council management review from which there will be no final report, says a Devon councillor.

Teignbridge council hired retired local authority chief executive Jeffrey Ligo to review the council's management structure and suggest improvements and potential savings.

But now, after seven months of work, it's been revealed that Mr Ligo has been told not to bother with a final written report to Teignbridge's 46 councillors.

Earl of Wessex opens Exeter’s Greenest school

The Earl of Wessex officially opened Exeter’s Greenest school today.

His Royal Highness visited Montgomery Primary in St Thomas which has been formally certified as England’s first zero-carbon school.

His Royal Highness spent over an hour touring the building and chatting to pupils, staff, parents and governors.

He said: “Thank you for inviting me and sharing what you are doing in your school

“Its a fantastic and brilliant school."

Exeter Round Table’s Annual charity fireworks display is being held at Westpoint again this year.

This spectacular event has grown to become the biggest fireworks display in Exeter, and taken on a new dimension since moving to Westpoint three years ago.

Expect a great fun night out for everyone with fairground rides, food and drink stalls and of course a spectacular fireworks display by Firemagic (UK) Ltd.

Gates open at 5.30pm, fireworks display starts at 7.30pm.
