Exeter Chamber of Commerce joined forces with Somerset Chamber and The Association of East Devon Chambers of Commerce this week in a ‘Meet the Neighbour’ business lunch. This was well attended by a range of guests and members from all three Chambers, with over 100 delegates in total.

East Devon District Council encourages shoppers and visitors with reduced parking charges

Motorists in East Devon will soon be able to take advantage of cut price parking deals around the district as several trial offers get underway.

Axminster, Honiton, Sidmouth and Exmouth are all set to benefit from deals in specific local car parks aimed at encouraging longer visits to town centres and visitor attractions. It’s part of a trial which aims to find out what long term parking offers the council might be able to make. Upton Pyne Hill closed due to serious accident

Update: This incident has now cleared.

1.30pm: Upton Pyne Hill remains closed due to an earlier accident. No further details have been released of the number of vehicles involved or any injuries.

Upton Pyne Hill in Upton Pyne is reported to be closed around the Burridge Road junction, because of a serious accident. Recovery work is currently being carried out to clear the accident.

Two men charged with forgery in Exeter

Two men have been charged with offences under the Forgery and Counterfeiting Act following a check by police in Exeter on Monday 11 March 2013.

Eighteen year old Alfonse Tourino from Portsmouth was charged with having custody or control of £940 counterfeit Scottish notes and a breach of bail offence.

Murder investigation launched in Plymouth after man's body discovered

Update: Formal identification has now been carried out and the deceased has been named as Keith Dance aged 33 years who lived on Molesworth Road in the Stoke area of Plymouth.

Jacqueline Cooke aged 29 of Victoria Place and Ian Gollop aged 50 of Molesworth Road – both Stoke addresses - have been charged with the murder of Keith Dance. They are both due to appear at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning, Thursday 14 March.

Quit and get fit – Exeter leisure centre celebrates No Smoking Day

Exeter’s Riverside Leisure Centre is joining forces with Devon’s public health team to celebrate national No Smoking Day tomorrow (Wednesday, 13 March).

The celebration event will also offer free badminton and circuits, for people to have a taster of what’s on offer at their local leisure centres, many of which are offering special promotions to help smokers ditch the cigarettes for good and get into exercise. Everys Solicitors organised an event to update fellow solicitors and legal staff on changes to law regarding children.

Exeter City get a positive result – on and off the pitch

When Exeter City beat visiting team Northampton Town by a 3-0 scoreline recently, few of the 414 visiting Cobblers travelled back to the East Midlands particularly pleased.

So the Grecians were delighted to receive an email from Rowland Jordan on Monday afternoon, a disabled Northampton Town supporter, who was delighted with the matchday experience from the perspective of a wheelchair user – though the match result was notable by its absence!
