Mums and babies enjoy RD&E SNUG party

SNUG is a charitable organisation that supports Devon based Neonatal families and works closely with staff from the RD&E’s Neonatal Unit.

The party was held in the Centre for Women’s Health, where staff from the Neonatal unit were able to catch up with babies and their parents who have now left the unit to see how they are getting on.

South West Water bills to fall

South West Water's household customers can look forward to improved services and average bills pegged to 7% below inflation by the end of the decade, following today's Final Determination of the company's 2015-20 business plan by water regulator Ofwat.

As well as keeping bills down, South West Water will spend about £1 billion on improving the region's water and wastewater services. This follows a 7% bill reduction last year and a price freeze this year, to April 2015.

Drivers warned to take extra care on A380

As darker evenings and winter conditions begin, road users are being reminded to take extra care as they travel along the route of the A380 South Devon Link Road construction site.

Devon County Council and Torbay Council, along with Galliford Try - the contractors responsible for constructing the road – are urging motorists, cyclists and pedestrians to exercise caution during the winter months.

Road users will have already seen changes to the road layout including the temporary lane realignments introduced to allow work along the centre line of the A380 to continue....

Exeter cancer charity FORCE is offering the chance for one lucky runner to take part in next year’s Virgin Money London Marathon.

For the first time, FORCE has been awarded a golden bond space for the race on Sunday April 26.

Nearly half of the UK’s 200,000 grandparents and kinship carers who are bringing up relatives’ children in traumatic circumstances face stigma and discrimination, often from public officials, with their children bullied and excluded from activities and many carers forced to give up their jobs, according to the first survey of its kind.

Air traffic control failure disrupts flights

Flights to and from UK airports have been disrupted by a technical problem at Swanwick air traffic control centre this afternoon.

Airspace capacity has been restricted in order to manage the situation.

Some flights arriving at and departing from Exeter Airport have been affected.

NATS, the national air traffic control body, reported at 4.15 that the system has been restored, but it will take time for operations to recover.

DNA from a rare specimen of an extinct mammal will be sampled, Jurassic Park style at the Ark, the Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery’s archive.
