British Red Cross aid workers arrive in Nepal

British Red Cross aid workers are arriving in the region to assess the damage wreaked by the devastating 7.9 scale earthquake, which struck just outside the Nepalese capital on Saturday.

These teams will join British Red Cross and International Federation of the Red Cross teams already in Nepal to help coordinate relief effort on the ground.

Aid is being sent to Nepal from Red Cross regional warehouses in Kuala Lumpur and Dubai and will be distributed to the thousands of people affected by the quake.

Over 200 guests of Hospiscare enjoyed hearing from the renowned business guru Lord Digby Jones at a dinner held at the University of Exeter on Wednesday (22nd April) evening.

Lord Jones spoke to the local business community on diverse subjects such as his running of the London Marathon, being interviewed by Jeremy Paxman and the British success in Formula One.

Pupils play for water in fundraising concert

For the 14th year running, the talented young musicians and singers from Exeter School will perform a special charity concert to raise funds for international charity WaterAid.

All proceeds from this concert, which takes place on at 7.30pm on Wednesday 29 April at St David's Church in Exeter, will go directly to WaterAid projects in Zambia, helping some of the country's poorest communities gain access to clean water and safe sanitation.

Currently in Zambia, 5.2 million people have no access to a safe water source and 8 million people have nowhere safe to go to the toilet...

Help clean up Exe Estuary

People are asked to meet at the Imperial Recreation Ground slipway in Exmouth at 2.30pm on Saturday 9 May, to spend a couple of hours cleaning up the estuary.

In return for their time, volunteers will be welcomed aboard Stuart Line Cruises for a free cruise of the estuary, including a free buffet and live music from Ace Music jazz band, at 5.30pm.
