“Hon, I’m not so sure that I’m in the right place? Am I meant to be parked up in a field?”

Hey, it was a fair enough text. I mean it’s not every day you accept an invite to a Tuesday night gig to watch a band billed as ‘the next big thing” and then find yourself on a farm in the middle of nowhere.

But sure enough, my fab friend Hannah was indeed parked up in the right place; a field in the grounds of the stunning Eggbeer Farm and the brand new location for The Loft Barbers Live Sessions.

Registration is £10 per dog and all money raised goes directly to your local RSPCA Shelter - Little Valley. There will be an event village and lots of fun on the day.

BBQ Fever Hits The Magdalen Chapter

BBQ Fever will be taking over The Magdalen Chapter this August Bank Holiday. Soak up the last of the summer sunshine from a deck chair on the lawn of the hotel’s walled garden and feast on a BBQ of locally sourced meat dishes and fresh summer salads. Welcoming all the family!

Start the week with a thrilling afternoon of summer jumps racing on Monday 27th July at Newton Abbot Racecourse.

Racing starts at 14:15 with gates opening at 12:15. The last race is at 17:15.

Beach fun for the kids

Following a popular programme of activities last year, the National Trust rangers in East Devon are once again running free family activities each Wednesdays of the summer holiday at Branscombe. New landmark for Exeter's skyline

The skyline of Exeter has a new landmark, thanks to a 80 metre high tower crane which will play a vital role in the creation of city's Queen St Dining Quarter.

Aviva Investors and construction partners ISG who are creating the unique dining destination are taking delivery of a tower crane capable of lifting 4 tonnes, with a 50 metre reach which allows it to cover the whole of the 36,500 sq ft site.

PCC Tony Hogg to step down

Tony Hogg has today announced that he will not seek re-election as police and crime commissioner for Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly next May.

Mr Hogg, who was elected in November 2012, says he is proud of his achievements during 32 months in office.

“The vision of the PCC role at the 2012 election was undeveloped but I have been strongly motivated throughout because I know now that it is an essential role and the police have never been held to account so effectively - a view confirmed by Her Majesty’s Inspector of Constabulary,” he said.
