Now in it's 18th year this fantastic fun weekend musical festival has grown in reputation.

The picture-postcard village of Beer which hosts the festival nestles in Lyme Bay, on the 95-mile long Jurassic Coast, England’s first natural World Heritage Site and forms part of the South West Coastal Path.

Taking place from 10am to 4pm at Slade House Farm, Sidmouth, Devon, it’s a great place to kick start your Christmas shopping.

With many unique, handmade and original items on offer from jewellery through to hand made clothing and bags; it’s a perfect way to enjoy a day shopping locally in the beautiful surroundings of The Donkey Sanctuary.

Carnival Fun Day

Exmouth Carnival will be holding their annual Carnival Fun Day on Saturday 11th October in The Strand, Exmouth between 9.00am and 5.00pm.

There will be over 60 stalls selling plants, handmade crafts and jewellery, toys, cakes, clothing, ceramics and lots, lots more.

Mad Hatter’s Tea Party – with The Carny Villains

2015 is the 150th anniversary of the publication of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

To celebrate, RAMM is putting on a rather special Mad Hatter’s Tea Party headlined by The Carny Villains.

The seven-piece band plays two-step mash-ups of gypsy swing, ska and rockabilly, telling implausible tales from a weird burlesque world on the edge of reason; the perfect encapsulation of Lewis Carroll’s book.

There will also be jazzy DJs, walkabout theatre, exotic drinks and a Wonderland fancy dress theme.

Still a student at 99!

Old Maynardian, Diana Swayne took a trip down memory lane this week to visit the school she attended in the 1930s.

The sprightly centenarian from Crediton, who will celebrate her 100th birthday on 29 October, dropped in for tea and cake with the Headmistress and took the time to meet other members of staff and the Head Girl.

Survey work to be carried out around Alma Bridge

Devon County Council is preparing to undertake survey work in the area around Alma Bridge to explore erosion of the nearby cliffs, after accepting that the bridge is likely to be under threat at some point in the future.

The surveys will provide a base line on which to compare future erosion of the cliff face that protects the bridge. The authority has confirmed that it is looking at a number of options to maintain a link to the South West Coast Path over the River Sid, and it will start monitoring erosion in the surrounding area later this month.

Flybe to extend sunshine flights from Exeter

Flybe will offer year-round sunshine holiday flights at Exeter Airport following a deal with Regional & City Airports (RCA), the airport management division of Rigby Group PLC, Exeter Airport’s owner.

The partnership, which involves significant investment from both parties, will safeguard the future of Exeter Airport’s existing summer holiday flights to Alicante, Faro, Malaga and Palma, and will see year-round services being introduced to Alicante and Malaga. Community fund reopens for nominations

RGB Building Supplies’ Well Built Community Fund aims to help a number of community groups to complete projects that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to do by giving away £1,000 worth of building materials every other month.
