Christmas is fast approaching, and as ever looks set to be a busy and potentially stressful time.

While 43% of people feel that buying presents is the main worry at Christmas, cooking Christmas dinner comes second along with family arguments!

That’s not surprising, considering that nearly a third of people will be eating Christmas dinner with more than seven guests and nearly half will spend over five hours preparing and cooking the festive meal.

Government commits to review pavement parking policy

A bill to strengthen and clarify the law on pavement parking was withdrawn last week (4 December) following a commitment from Government to undertake a policy review and convene a round table next year to further examine the implications of any legislative change.

The Pavement Parking Private Members’ Bill called for the law on pavement parking to be strengthened – only allowing people to park on pavements that have been specially designated to allow it, making it the exception rather than the rule.

Chiefs statement re Slade injury

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter has this morning confirmed that England international Henry Slade was assessed by medical staff last night on his return from the Aviva Premiership game away to Wasps.

Baxter said: "Henry has an injury to the lower part of his right leg and it is envisaged he will operated on sometime today (Sunday). At the moment we have set no timescale on how long he will be sidelined for. A more detailed assessment will be made following the operation."

This is the only comment the Chiefs will be making on the injury to Henry Slade.

Record crowds a boost for folk festival

Top local and national artists will headline at the 39th Dartmoor Folk Festival, which will be held at South Zeal, near Okehampton, on August 5, 6 and 7 in 2016, it was announced at the annual meeting of the association which runs the annual three-day festival.

A new campaign aimed at tackling domestic abuse has been launched by Devon and Cornwall Police.

The campaign will highlight the fact that domestic abuse can happen to anyone, at any age, in any kind of relationship.

Messages around types of abuse are being communicated across the Force area to show the forms that domestic abuse can take, such as intimidation, financial control, psychological abuse and others.
