Deaf Academy students jump start car raffle

One of Exeter’s oldest charities is marking its 190th year anniversary by launching a prestigious car raffle in the city centre. Mercedes-Benz of Exeter has donated a brand new £22,000 A-Class car which will be on display in Princesshay to raise thousands of pounds for the Deaf Academy.

Raffle tickets are now on sale until Christmas Eve, following the announcement that Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education is the shopping centre’s ‘2016 Charity of the Year’.

St Michael’s Primary Academy in tune with ESO

The ESO almost doubled in size recently as it welcomed members of St Michael’s orchestra to join its weekly rehearsal.

Top sleep tips for World Sleep Day

Devon public health bosses are helping to raise awareness of some simple ways to tackle sleep problems, to mark international World Sleep Day (Friday March 18).

According to sleep specialist Stephanie Romiszewski, based at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, a third of the population suffer from insomnia-type sleep problems. About 10% of those will seek treatment.

Visitors to Exeter can watch artists creating life-size model rhinos this Easter.

Paignton Zoo’s Great Big Rhino Project is launching a public painting space in Harlequins Shopping Centre in the heart of Exeter, just round the corner from the Royal Albert Memorial Museum.

Following on from the successful Great Gorillas Project in 2013, The Great Big Rhino Project will put a free trail of painted life-size rhinos around the streets, parks and open spaces of Exeter and the English Riviera this summer.
