New primary school to be built in Exeter

Devon County Council has issued a compulsory purchase order to enable work to start on a new primary school in Exeter.

The Trinity Church of England primary school is designed to serve the growing community at Newcourt off Topsham Road.

The school was originally planned to open in September 2016.

But building work had to be called off last autumn when Devon could not reach agreement with a number of landowners about rights and access to the proposed site of the school.

Fun Dog Show

Our first ever fun family dog show takes place at Poltimore House on 14th August. Doors open a 10am with the first fun class starting at 11am. Lots of prizes to be won from hairiest hound to child handler class, something for everyone pooch and owners alike. Raffle and tombola, prizes for dogs and humans.

Warning over telephone scams

July is National Scams Awareness Month, an initiative by Citizens Advice which aims to empower UK consumers to get advice, report scams and tell others about their experiences. Call blocking specialists, CPR Call Blocker, is getting behind the initiative by highlighting the top telephone scams that are catching consumers out in order to ensure that people in Devon are not victims of financial fraud. On the 8 and 9 October this year The Royal Marines Charity and Devon Air Ambulance will be hosting the ultimate challenge as competitors are invited to take part in the Royal Marines Commando Challenge, a 4, 10 or 17K mud run and obstacle course using the Royal Marines Endurance Course on Woodbury Common.
