Over the last two years we have seen a dramatic shift in our energy supply services. Customers have been switching suppliers and new companies have been entering the market offering cheaper deals and better service.

New entrants to the energy market and a greater consumer focus being shifted to customer service, ethical supplies and trust; has reduced the market share of the big six from 100 per cent five years ago to 86 per cent at the end of 2016.

Dartmoor Step Dancing Project wins National Lottery support

FOLK music charity Traditional Arts Support in the Community (TASC) has received £24,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to carry out research into the traditional step dancing of Dartmoor.

The charity has been devising and delivering projects since 1994 but this is its first partnership outside Wales.

Director Philip Freeman, who also founded the Welsh Folk Music Development organisation TRAC-CYMRU, said, “We’re very excited about this project and see it as a huge privilege to make it happen.”

Police appeal after man stabbed in Exeter

Police were called at around 9.40pm on Thursday 23rd of February with reports of an altercation between Oxford Road and York Road, near Sidwell Street in Exeter.

It is believed that the victim, a local man in his 30’s was attacked by three black men who later fled the scene in a vehicle. The victim sustained a knife injury to the buttocks and remains in hospital in a stable condition.

It is believed that all four men knew each other and Police enquiries are underway.

Devon takes a bite out of food waste

Devon County Council has joined forces with local and regional authorities across six other European countries on a new four year research project, aimed at reducing the amount of food waste in the supply chain.

The project, called ECOWASTE4FOOD, is funded by the Interreg Europe programme and includes authorities from France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Finland and Poland.

The first two years of the project will involve research to discover and share best practice and innovations for reducing food waste in each of the partner countries.
