Swimathon, the world’s biggest annual fundraising swim is back for 2017 and swimmers across the UK are being encouraged to jump in one of over 600 participating pools and raise vital funds for Marie Curie, the UK’s leading charity for people living with a terminal illness and their families. Call for voters to register in time for elections

With county council elections taking place in a few weeks, voters in Teignbridge are being urged to make sure they are registered to vote.

The call for voters to sign up comes as the Electoral Commission launches a national voter registration campaign to encourage as many people as possible to register ahead of elections taking place this year across the country.

A former Dawlish Community College student who has been offered a place at Oxford University to study mathematics has returned to the college to speak to aspiring students. Amber Borowiec, who left the college in June 2015, subsequently won a place at the Exeter Mathematics School to study for her ‘A’ levels. Man charged with murder following Exeter death

A man was last night charged in connection with a death of a 47-year-old man in Exeter on Friday.

Delton Jones, aged 19 from Burleigh Mews, Liverpool has been charged with murder and will appear at Exeter Magistrates Court today (21st March) at 10am.

Officers were called to Bridge Court, Exeter by ambulance staff, just before 1.50am on Friday 17 March, following a concern for welfare of a man.

The 47-year-old man, originally from Liverpool was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

New operations director appointed at Stagecoach SW

Stagecoach South West announced today that it has appointed an Operations Director to join its senior management team. Paul Clark, currently General Manager at Stagecoach in Hull, is due to start with the operator on 2 May.

Barratt set to provide new homes, jobs and community benefits in SW

Up to 1,000 jobs are set to be supported in the south west with the start of two new developments due to be launched this spring by Barratt Homes.

The five star housebuilder has begun work at Redwood Heights in Plympton and Lucerne Fields in Ivybridge – both providing a significant economic boost to the local area in terms of jobs and improvements to local facilities.

Jacqui and Mike Down, owners of the Volunteer Inn in Ottery St Mary, are celebrating a successful first five years at the pub.
