Devon’s popular Powderham Food Festival will return this autumn as organisers announce this year’s dates.

Powderham Food Festival, the autumnal foodie event that celebrates the South West’s finest food and drink producers, will return on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th October 2018, 10am to 5pm. Now in its seventh year, the festival will be hosted in the grounds of the beautiful Powderham Castle and promises to provide a fantastic family, foodie and fun day out for all to enjoy.

On Friday 8th December 2017, La La Choirs held their third annual ‘CLIC for Christmas’ concert at Exeter Cathedral. Performing to another sold-out audience, they started the festive season off with a bang with a selection of Christmas favourites, old and new.

La La Choirs were joined on stage by the winning choir from their Devon Schools Choir Competition, Kingsley School from Bideford, as well as the CLIC Sargent singers, a group of young people who have all at some point been CLIC Sargent service users and have taken part in their music programme.

An enterprising community centre is celebrating after securing an exciting new opportunity for their popular café. Exeter based St Sidwell’s Community Centre, affectionately known as St Sid’s , has been awarded the contract to provide canteen services for Liverty’s (formerly Devon and Cornwall Housing) new Headquarters at Exeter’s Skypark development.

From April, the expanding social enterprise will offer healthy, delicious and affordable food to over 300 Liverty staff, coinciding with the Housing Association’s merger with Knightstone and relaunch as Liverty.

ISCA Recruitment, an independent recruitment consultancy based in Devon, made a company donation of £100 following one of the team’s sudden and unexpected loss of her father. Jo Blythe recently lost her father suddenly following a heart attack. “My Dad was an active 71 year old. Darts fans in Exeter will get the chance to see the sport’s greatest ever player in 2018 when Phil Taylor appears in an exclusive exhibition event.

Sixteen-time World Champion Taylor retired from the professional tour following January’s World Championship final, meaning the legendary ‘Power’ will not be appearing in this year’s Premier League for the first time.

The momentum in the South West housing market continues to slow, as buyer demand falls, according to the March 2018 RICS UK Residential Market Survey.

Bring all the girls together, dig out your pink tutus and bunny ears and join hundreds of women walking or running for Hospiscare.

The Twilight Walk, which takes place on Saturday 7 July 2018 is a five mile or 10 mile ‘PINK FIZZ’ themed sponsored walk along Exmouth Seafront with entertainment around the route, starting from The Maer in Exmouth.

Vital Devon community buses could face the axe

Vital community bus schemes across Devon could have to close if the Government enforces European regulations, a senior county councillor has warned.

The Government is currently consulting on licencing for community transport after a commercial bus company challenged current UK guidance in the European courts.

As a result, community buses with more than nine seats would be subject to the same regulations as buses, minibuses and coaches run for profit.

And community transport drivers would have to have the same qualifications as professional drivers.

Southern Healthcare is an independent care provider with four homes across Devon specialising in complex nursing, dementia and residential care. Sefton Hall located in Dawlish is organising a sponsored walk/wheelchair-push on Saturday 28th April at 10am, starting from its sister home, The Old Rectory in Old Tiverton Road, Exeter – a total distance of 12 miles. This will be followed by a fundraising garden party being held at the Dawlish care home on 7th May Bank holiday, with all welcome to visit and enjoy entertainment by pioneering and contemporary Devon Rock Choir.
