Second OBE for Devon adoption charity

Former Deputy CEO of local adoption agency Families for Children, Graham Pellew, has been awarded an OBE from Prince William at Buckingham Palace. Graham, who has recently completed 30 years of working in Adoption, was awarded the honour for his services to children and families.

Graham started his career working for Nottinghamshire County Council, then moved across to the voluntary sector in 2000 firstly as Adoption Team Manager and then Deputy Chief Executive for Faith in Families.

In 2010 the opportunity to move to Devon came as he was appointed Deputy CEO of Families...

Celebrate International Dark Sky Week at a Dark Sky Event on Tuesday 17 April, organised by Dartmoor National Park in association with the Department of Physics & Astronomy from the University of Exeter.

London Marathon run to raise funds for colleague’s inspirational charity

Office manager at Luscombe Drinks, Natalie Cook, is going the extra mile this April to raise awareness and funds for Paignton-based Leah’s Fairy Fund. On Sunday 22nd April, Natalie will be pounding the streets of London and clocking up 26.2 miles as she aims to complete the 2018 London Marathon.

With a fundraising target of £3,500, Natalie is running for Leah’s Fairy Fund, a charity set up by her work colleague Wayne Martin. Wayne and his wife Joanne set up the charity after their daughter Leah was diagnosed with a high-grade medulloblastoma at the age of just two years old....

Gas leak at Exeter Golf and Country Club

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue received a call reporting a gas leak in a plant room at Exeter Golf and Country Club in Topsham Road.

Fire control immediately mobilised one fire appliance from Middlemoor, one fire appliance from Topsham and the Environmental Protection Unit from Newton Abbot to attend this incident at 7.25pm yesterday (April 3).

Berry Recruitment Group announces increase in turnover of £3m

Berry Recruitment Group (BRG) has announced a turnover of £65m in 2017 – up £3m on the previous year. The national recruiter also recorded an increased gross profit of a touch under £13m, and earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of £1.75m. The company, which has a branch in Exeter, also generated a net cash inflow from operations of £1.73m. Wild nightingales will be among the guest artists when the Mercury Prize-nominated folk star Sam Lee brings his acclaimed SINGING WITH NIGHTINGALES event to Exeter's The Phoenix arts centre on Wednesday 9 May (8pm) - combining music and story-telling with a live link to woods where the birds are in full courtship sing.
