Limited edition salami created in memory of charcuterie fan Paul

One year after the tragic death of Paul Young, Ottery St Mary restaurant and charcuterie Rusty Pig has released a limited edition salami in his honour.

Owner Robin Rea set up Rusty Pig Charcuterie in partnership with Paul in 2016, after they met at a butchery course.

Together, they launched a range of wholesale charcuterie that quickly became popular with pubs, farm shops and at food festivals across the South West. Tragically, just as the business was taking off, Paul died in a motorbike accident in Somerset.

District council wants to hear what the East Devon local community thinks about a review of off-street public pay and display car parking fees

East Devon District Council is considering reviewing the charges it makes in some of its off-street public pay and display car parks, as well as to its car park permits. The council has put some proposals forward and is now keen to hear what the local community think of these changes through its consultation, which runs until Friday 1 June 2018.

Cornwall retain street sports crown as Teignbridge and East Devon shine

Cornwall retained their Street Sports title after an epic event at Mount Hawke Skatepark near Truro on Friday. The home team were in great form on four wheels or two as youngsters from right across the region enjoyed the experience of competing at one of the UK's best skate parks and host of the Team GB Olympic Trials for Tokyo 2020. Cornwall's Mount Hawke team took gold in both the scooter and skateboard team classes as their fellow Cornish contingent from Junkyard took the BMX team gold. Free event to help local businesses gain more enquiries by using their own photography

A local digital marketing agency is aiming to help businesses make the most of their photography in the latest of their series of free events.

The masterclass, which will explain how photos and imagery can be used to to boost bookings and enquiries, is to be held on Tuesday 24th April and is aimed at any business in Devon or Cornwall wanting to raise their revenue and online activity this year.

The speaker at the event will be digital marketing specialist Mark Worden, who having set up his own business four years ago has generated more than £1.5 million in online enquiries...

The Shops at Dartington launches distillery

British retailer and social enterprise, The Shops at Dartington, are to introduce a brand-new permanent distillery within their Food Hall, to launch in mid-April.

In partnership with Devon Distillery, the new copper still will produce The Shops at Dartington’s signature bottle of Elmhirst Gin, and will also have the capability of producing other contract gins as well as other spirits at a later date. The distillery will also be running a boutique gin experience, enabling small classes to learn the process of making gin, while they can smell, taste and witness the entire process...

Children's Hospice SW goes Green

Local charity, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) has taken some practical steps to ensure its mass participation events are more environmentally friendly.

This year CHSW is holding its much-loved Rainbow Run at Westpoint near Exeter on June 9. It’s a 5k family-friendly fun run, which raises tens of thousands of pounds for the charity.

This year, to help reduce the amount of single use plastic at its Rainbow Run, CHSW will be replacing bottled water with branded reusable water bottles which will be available to purchase and fill up on the day in the event village....

Exeter partners with Dementias Platform UK

The University of Exeter Medical School has been confirmed as a full partner of Dementias Platform UK (DPUK), a partnership of leading universities and prominent industry names striving for better research in dementia.

DPUK is a public-private partnership funded by the Medical Research Council. It aims to bring together researchers from universities and industry to develop effective treatments for dementia.
