Lane closure needed for urgent repairs in Station Road, Topsham

Motorists travelling from Topsham to Exeter are being urged to allow extra time for their journey over the next four weeks due to urgent repairs being carried out on an unstable wall in Station Road.

From Sunday (7 October) the city-bound lane of Station Road, Topsham, will be closed to enable essential repairs to get underway on a Grade 2 listed wall next to the road. The structure is at risk of collapse and work is expected to take around four weeks to complete. Exeter City drew 2-2 against Yeovil Town at Huish Park in Sky Bet League Two.

Unique book to support people’s mental health is crowdfunding now

A new book aiming to help people who struggle with their mental health is now being crowdfunded. Riding the Storms is a compilation of stories, poems, photography and artwork created by people who are reflecting on, and even embracing, the pain of their mental suffering.

This book has been made possible through the support of Recovery Devon, but has been developed and driven by writers and artists passionate about its importance.

Recovery Devon, a community interest company supported by Devon Partnership NHS Trust, aims to give a greater say in their own recovery to people...

Cyclists raise over £5,300 for local charity

A determined team of local people have raised an impressive £5,357 so far, after cycling the length of the country for Exeter-based charity Rainbow Living.

Over 11 days, the team spent an average of 8 hours in the saddle every day as they cycled from John O’Groats to Land’s End; overall they covered 950 miles and climbed over 51,000 feet – and burnt more than 38,000 calories!

The group braved torrential rain and lashing winds; herds of cows, flocks of sheep, punctures, saddle sores and overall tiredness may have slowed them down but they were not deterred during their epic...
