Dog lover, Debs Jones is used to getting in her daily steps as part of her job involves meeting GPs and NHS teams every day.

The Devon & Somerset health professional facilitator is part of a Cancer Research UK team, whose role is to support cancer prevention, doctors referrals, and promote healthy lifestyles in the county and the south west.

She is supporting Cancer Research UK’s ‘Walk All Over Cancer’ campaign which asks people to walk 10,000 steps a day, every day in March, and raise money for the charity’s life-saving research.

Dawlish rail resilience engineer achieves top professional award

A leading civil engineer, who is playing a key role in major works to improve the resilience of the main railway line on the battered coastal route through South Devon, has achieved a top professional award.

Saeed Mojabi, Director of Infrastructure West at Arup, who is Project Director and lead Geotechnical Engineer for the railway resilience programme at Dawlish, has been awarded fellowship of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), the oldest professional engineering association in the world.

Devon County Council is inviting applications for grants to expand its award-winning network of work hubs.

There are currently 15 work hubs across the county and Devon County Council has provided funding to help establish eight of those.

The authority is now inviting applications for grants to add to the network, providing facilities in areas without work hubs.

Paralympic star urges South West swimmers to go for gold

PARALYMPIC swimmer and gold medallist Bethany Firth is calling on people across The South West to take the plunge and sign up for Swimathon 2020.

Bethany is helping to highlight the annual fundraiser which raises money for two charities, Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie.

The swimming star is urging people of all ages and abilities to take part in the sponsored event. It will be taking place at swimming pools in Wiltshire, Somerset, Devon, Cornwall and across the UK.

Devon set to face more storm conditions

More storm conditions are on the way with heavy rain forecast for Devon tomorrow, followed by rain and strong winds at the weekend.

Research released today by Ryobi has revealed that 42% of people in Exeter upcycle unused items around their home because they are conscious of the environment and want to become more sustainable.
