If you've ever considered visiting the seaside town of Swanage, then you've probably heard at least a thing or two about the Swanage Railway. It's one of the most popular tourist attractions in town, attracting thousands of visitors each year. Found on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset, this historic railway has a rich and colorful history.

The Swanage Railway was opened in 1885 and operated for 87 years. In 1972, British Rail closed the line, but since then locals had never stopped longing for the railway to operate again.

Steenson agrees contract extension at Chiefs

The cast list of Exeter’s promotion-winning heroes of 2010 may be dwindling, but one of them is at least set to extend his stay with the Chiefs for a while longer.

Long-serving fly-half Gareth Steenson has today put pen to paper on a contract extension that will allow him to see out the remainder of the 2019/20 season with the Devon club.

Like club-mate Phil Dollman, who himself agreed a similar deal last week, both will form part of Rob Baxter’s squad as they gear up for next month’s return to action in both the Gallagher Premiership and Heineken Champions Cup....

A new website dedicated solely to women’s sport was launched today (Tuesday 14 July).

Women's Sport Daily will cover all female professional sport – from football, netball and cricket to tennis, golf and Olympic disciplines.

There will also be the chance to promote news about your school, club and local teams in a unique Community section, as well as exclusive interviews and columns from sporting stars and the people who influence how girls and women watch, play and enjoy the action.

Exeter College International Baccalaureate (IB) students celebrate 100% pass rate

Exeter College students are celebrating after achieving a 100% pass rate in this year’s International Baccalaureate (IB) results.

This year over a third of students (34.3%) achieved 40+ points. This is the equivalent of five A Levels at A/A*, putting them in the top five to ten per cent of students in the entire world. One candidate, Julietta Harris, achieved an incredible 45 out of 45 possible points and will be heading to Oxford to study Law with European Law in September.

Connecting Devon and Somerset (CDS) has launched its Fibre Extension Programme which will provide more than 8,000 homes and businesses with fibre broadband connections direct to the premises by the end of 2021.

Funding support for charity's community care

A charity supporting older people and helping them receive groceries and essential medication has been awarded £1,000 from a regional builder’s charity fund.
