Join film-makers, experts and translators to discuss world cinema and take part in free screenings

People can join film-makers, experts and translators to watch and discuss classic films past and present as part of a special event to celebrate world cinema and documentaries.

University of Exeter MA students have provided new translations to feature films, which will be shown followed by a roundtable discussion between them and film-makers, academics, translators and film restorers.

The event will take place online on Saturday November 21, from 9:30 am - 6:30 pm and is part of the Being Human Festival of the Humanities.

With the clocks set to go back on the last Sunday in October (25 Oct), Devon County Council is issuing its annual “be safe, be seen” message to road users.

The authority is reminding everyone to take extra care on Devon’s roads at this time of year, particularly in poor weather conditions when visibility may be reduced.

Cyclists, pedestrians, motorcyclists, and horse riders are encouraged to wear reflective and fluorescent clothing to ensure they can be seen.

Tributes paid to city councillor

Tributes have been paid to Exeter City Councillor Judy Pattison who died late last week at her Exeter home.

Cllr Pattison, 70, was the Labour Party member for Mincinglake and Whipton.

She was elected to office in Exeter in 2018, having previously served as a councillor in Camden in London. She was Mayor of Camden in 2002/3.
