Club Ceilidh, a fast-growing live folk dance night that has quickly built a reputation in Plymouth, returns to Exeter on Friday 1 May following a highly successful debut event at America Hall in Pinhoe earlier this spring.

The Exeter launch on 10 April saw a near sell-out crowd and an enthusiastic response, with organisers bringing the event back for a second night on May Day - one of the traditional high points of the folk calendar.

Club Ceilidh has already gained momentum in Plymouth, where recent events have sold out weeks in advance, with some ticket releases disappearing within minutes.

A ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee) is a lively, social dance event with live traditional music and easy-to-follow dances called by an experienced caller. No previous dance experience is needed, and all dances are taught on the night, making it especially welcoming to newcomers.

Club Ceilidh has developed a reputation for its high-energy atmosphere, combining live music, a lively dancefloor and a more contemporary take on traditional ceilidh events. The focus is on participation, connection and shared experience, creating a welcoming and sociable night out.

Each event features live music from Plymouth's popular Freedom Fields Ceilidh Band, alongside a licensed bar and a relaxed, friendly crowd.

"Club Ceilidh is about bringing people together," says Christian Mayne, organiser of Club Ceilidh. "You don't need a partner or any previous dance experience - the dances are taught on the night, and everyone is welcome."

Further Exeter dates are planned, including Friday 5 June, as part of a growing programme of events across the South West.

Events typically run from 20:00 to 23:00, with tickets available in advance.
