Why not take advantage of a long summer evening by attending an imaginative writing workshop at A la Ronde?

The workshop, held from 5.30pm to 8.30pm on Thursday 4 July, is led by short story writer, Meredith Miller.

Fiction and fiction and non-fiction prose is the focus and Meredith hopes to use the unique history of the property as a starting point to inspire writers of all levels to develop their voice and use their imagination. To get those literary and creative thought processes flowing there will be a pre-workshop guided tour of the house at 4pm.

Meredith says: "Writers of all levels and genres are very welcome to attend the workshop. We will be working on how to develop character, and thinking about the relationship between story and place.

"By the end of the evening, participants may expect to have made some character sketches, and perhaps outlined a story idea and discussed some aspects of realising their plan. We will also talk about the writers we admire and look at writing that works well and why."

If you think this workshop could be for you, please contact A la Ronde on 01395 265514 to book a place. Cost of the workshop is £15 and participants are asked to bring pencils and paper with them as well as two copies of a short passage of their favourite prose fiction.

A la Ronde is a beguiling story in itself. A unique and quirky sixteen sided house, with a fascinating past and an unusual legacy that will surprise, intrigue and inspire.
