A New Partnership to Support People with Brain Injuries
Headway Devon, the local charity, based in Exeter, that specialises in helping those rehabilitate from head injuries, Thompsons Solicitor's, MAPS Benevolent Trust and the Players of the Postcode Lottery know that after brain injury people are discharged home to a family network without wider support.
You've spent months in hospital, in ICU, in rehabilitation with a team of clinicians around you and suddenly you're all alone. You may not understand that you've had a brain injury. You might be at the beginning of a legal fight for compensation for your brain injury and have no idea how to go about that. You're still recovering, still regaining skills, still learning how to live with your brain injury.
Every week, Headway Devon, works alongside around 100 people but there's more that go home alone who have never heard of us.
Now, thanks to the support of Thompsons Solicitor's, MAPS Benevolent Trust and the Players of the Postcode Lottery we can come to you in the hospital. We can make a plan together. We can be there for your loved ones.
Thompsons Solicitors was established in 1921 and has a specialist team of experienced lawyers who fight for the rights of brain injured people. Lisa Gunner, Solicitor and Partner at Thompsons said “We are delighted to collaborate with Headway Devon. We understand the devastating impact that a brain injury has on someone, and their loved ones. We recognise the importance of implementing early rehabilitation, financial security and a robust package of care and support. It is a privilege to be working alongside Headway Devon to enable their patients to access optimal support following a brain injury”
David Stothard, Managing Director of MAPS said: “MAPS Benevolent Trust are delighted to be able to contribute to the provision of this very important initiative which we are sure will improve outcomes for all those who are able to use the service”.
With thanks to Thompsons Solicitors’ assistance and MAPS Benevolent Trust’s contribution, we can now employ a Clinical Lead, a Neuro-Occupational Therapist at Band 7 to be at that hospital bed and to ensure that all of our services meet your needs.
