Taylor Wimpey Exeter apprentice bags award

An apprentice at Taylor Wimpey Exeter has won a Pearson BTEC Construction Student of the Year award, thanks to his top results on the course and his work as a Technical Co-ordinator. 

Dan Reynolds, 26, started his career with Taylor Wimpey as an NVQ Level 3 Construction apprentice while studying at Exeter College. After working hard to gain his qualification in Construction and the Built Environment, Dan is now using his skills as a Technical Co-ordinator at the Taylor Wimpey Exeter regional office. 

Pearson’s BTEC Awards are now in their ninth year and allow talented students from across the country to be nominated by their mentors and considered for an award. Celebrating exceptional students and the teachers that coach them, Dan’s dedication to the course allowed him to be the only work-based Construction student to win. 

Dan said: “I’ve been so impressed with the support that has been offered to me during my time at Taylor Wimpey. From the very beginning of my journey, I’ve been encouraged to be the best I can be and my achievements - both educational and practical - have been acknowledged. I really feel like Taylor Wimpey are proud to have me as a member of staff, so when I was nominated for the  award back in April, it was a real honour.”

Ian Pugsley, Technical Director at Taylor Wimpey Exeter, said: “Showing our appreciation for the hard work that our staff do is so important to us – we are proud of Dan and everything he does in the Technical team, hence his recent promotion to Technical Co-ordinator. Our apprenticeships are designed to give the right balance between classroom learning and hands-on experience, ensuring our trainees are best placed to be offered a permanent opportunity after their studies.”
