The Teign Estuary and Coastal Partnership (TECP) is welcoming views from anyone with an interest in how Teignbridge’s local estuaries and award winning coastline are managed.

Led by Teignbridge District Council, TECP promotes the integrated coastal management, access and economic development of the estuary and the open coast between Torbay and the Exe Estuary.

As part of its five year programme TECP is now consulting on what is likely to be important for 2019 – 2024 through a series of drop-in events. People will have the opportunity to have their say and raise any concerns with representatives from TECP. Community groups and organisations are also being encouraged to come along to find out what small grants may be available to them.

The drop-in events are taking place on:

Tuesday 13 November: 2pm to 7pm at Dawlish Methodist Church
Monday 19 November: 2pm to 7pm at Newton Abbot Library
Tuesday 20 November: 2pm to 7pm at Teignmouth Pavilions

Cllr Humphrey Clemens, Teignbridge District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Planning and Coastal Management, said: “This is a really dynamic area and as hosts we love to see the energy and commitment of over 100 different local groups and other interested individuals working together for the benefit of all on the coast. The Partnership is keen to hear new objectives or priorities for our combined works and research projects and also to inform suggestions for small grants to help encourage community actions to make the best of our coastal assets.”

Cmdr. David Vaughan, Harbour Master and Chairman of the Partnership, said: “The drop-in sessions are a quick and simple way for everyone with an interest in this special area to have their views heard so that we can help make the most of our coastal assets and the way we all use the beach and the water.”

TECP leads on or is actively involved in economic development initiatives for the area, water recreation, coastal defence, footpaths, slipways and coastal access, fishing and shellfisheries, conservation, the Templer Way and Stover Canal, Taste of the Teign, bathing water standards and operates a Small grants fund to encourage community groups to get involved in the management of this charismatic area.
