An owl of a time at Exeter care home
Staff at RMBI care home Cadogan Court in Exeter, have teamed up with a local birds of prey centre, to bring some fascinating creatures to meet with residents.
The Hawkridge Birds of Prey team brought an array of birds including a South African owl, a European Eagle, and a Tawny owl which is native to England, to the care home on 7 February.
During the session, some of the residents who have limited eye sight, were able to hold the birds and touch their feathers, whilst learning interesting facts about how to care for the animals.
“Our residents love taking part in different activities and we try to team up with local projects as much as possible, to help residents stay involved with their local communities. These relationships are important at any age and staying connected in the community can have a huge impact on a person’s health and wellbeing,” says Activities Coordinator Angela Webb.
Hawridge Bird of Prey Centre is based in Exmouth and provides a complete hands on birds of prey experience throughout the year.
