Chime encourages hearing health this Christmas
Chime Health, leading audiology service and NHS partner in Devon, is encouraging people to make their hearing health a priority this Christmas as the festive season often highlights and intensifies issues surrounding hearing loss. With approximately 1 in 6 people in the UK affected by hearing loss and on average it taking 10 years for many people to address their problems. Most people can relate to the topic of hearing health and Chime are urging those who think they might be experiencing problems to make an appointment, or to encourage those they care about.
Inevitably group situations increase over the Christmas period and getting to together with friends and family can become challenging. Hearing loss of any level can sometimes cause sufferers to feel left out of conversations, they will often turn down invitations to events or feel embarrassed from asking people to repeat themselves. It can be incredibly isolating but nothing a simple hearing test can’t help to put right.
Chime Hearing have 15 clinics throughout Devon with a team of experienced audiologists who can provide free hearing tests and expert help and advice. Their state of the art technology helps to combat both hearing loss and the issues which come with it, which can considerably increase a sufferer’s confidence.
They not only provide hearing aids, but advances in technology have led to the availability of even more discreet gadgets. The Roger Pen for example is a wireless microphone which is disguised as a pen and is compatible with all hearing aids. It offers better speech understanding for group situations when there might be a lot of people talking at once.
Chime Managing Director, Jonathan Parsons comments: “However large or small you think your hearing issues might be, it’s always worth having it checked. We hope that our advice and technology will help people seek help sooner than the current average. If there is one time of year that will emphasise the sheer scale of hearing difficulties, it’s now!”
