Exhibition of portraits by Rachael Jamieson
A la Ronde, the quirky sixteen-sided house near Exmouth, is hosting an exhibition of work by Rachael Jamieson between 14 and 27 August, from 10.30am to 5.00pm each day. Rachael is a local artist whose oil paintings are full of life and character.
Rachel said: “A la Ronde is a rather hidden treasure – tucked away as it is, with no grand gates and driveway – and I didn’t know of its existence until my mum, Joy Jamieson, introduced me to it when she began to volunteer there sometime in the late 1990s. We both delighted in the way that the two Parminter cousins set to and decorated the house so freely and creatively, using natural materials and with none of the fancy craft tools, ‘how to’ books and kits that we have to day. They are a great inspiration in this age of mass production and I like to think that the cousins would approve of my attempts to create portraits that are individual and unique.”
The exhibition can be seen free of charge, in the stable and award winning tearooms.
