Local charity Hospiscare is looking to fill the last available spaces for Exeter’s Rock Solid Race taking place on Saturday March 15 at Escot Park.

The event is currently 90 per cent full and the charity is hoping more will people will sign up to become part of the Hospiscare team before the event is at capacity.

As well as some individuals and smaller teams, the charity is also being supported by two local gyms.

BoxFit Devon, based at Starcross has an impressive team 28 who are hoping to raise more than £1,500 for the local charity.

One of the owners of BoxFit Devon, Gabriel Osborne said: “When the Rock Solid Race came up we saw it as a great opportunity to get members of BoxFit Devon to work together as a team and showcase the hard work they have been putting in over the previous six months.

“For us, supporting Hospiscare was an obvious choice; they are a fantastic local charity and one which has touched our members and their families.
“With 28 people currently in our team we are hoping to raise in excess of £1500 and are very much looking forward to this challenge.”

Hospiscare fundraiser Celia Wilkinson who will be joining the BoxFit team for a training session, said: “We completely understand how tough it is to train for a race like Rock Solid, add to that fundraising and the contest suddenly gets tougher.

“BoxFit have such a great team and I’m sure that they’ll surpass their fundraising target. I can’t wait to be put through my paces at their training session.”

It’s not too late to register for the Rock Solid Race, with entry closing when the event hits its 100 per cent full rate.
