Buckfast Abbey offers rare opportunity for 12 Men to join its Holy Week Vocations Discernment Retreat

Buckfast Abbey, in South Devon, has announced that it will be celebrating Holy Week this year with an initiative to host twelve men who may be considering a vocation to the priesthood or religious life. In a first for the Abbey, the 12 men - reflective of the 12 disciples - will be invited to join the Monastic Community to share their journey through the holiest of weeks in the liturgical year.

Researchers at the University of Exeter have received £10 million to investigate and tackle biodiversity loss in the UK through partnerships and community action.

New research by the UK’s leading developer and manager of retirement communities, McCarthy Stone, has found that almost two fifths (39%) of older people in the South West, equating to an estimated 495k, would consider moving, with more than a quarter (27%) of retirees in the region – 343k – potentially needing to downsize.
