The spirit of a medieval saint will be evoked in a new community ritual for Dartmoor, which aims to reconnect people with water and the land.

St Gudula’s Well in Ashburton, an ancient holy well, will be the focus of the ceremony, which will honour water as the source of all life, and also celebrate the start of summer.

With less than a week to go until Christmas day, there is a lot to get ready - from buying last minute gifts and wrapping presents, to picking up a turkey.

One in ten Brits admit to knowingly driving home over the limit from a Christmas party

  • 1.6 million UK motorists (4%) have knowingly driven home over the limit after a Christmas party on more than one occasion
  • Men are significantly more likely to drink-drive at Christmas than women. Almost one in five men have done so (17%), compared to just over one in 20 women (6%)
  • One in five drink-drivers (19%) said they drove home over the legal limit as ‘they didn’t think they’d get caught’

New research has found that while nearly a third of Brits say cheese is one of their favourite foods, almost a quarter of Brits have avoided eating cheese for fear it’ll give them nightmares or vivid dreams. UK charity Missing People, along with Stagecoach, the UK’s largest bus and coach operator, have joined together on a campaign that will encourage people in crisis to call the free and confidential helpline before they think of disappearing.

The charity confirmed that it is hearing first-hand that financial issues like not being able to pay bills, unpaid debt, and food insecurity are driving people to think about going missing. In response, the charity launched a new preventative campaign in October to reach more people in crisis.
