Ancient Holy Well Forms Centrepiece for new Dartmoor Community Pageant

The spirit of a medieval saint will be evoked in a new community ritual for Dartmoor, which aims to reconnect people with water and the land.

St Gudula’s Well in Ashburton, an ancient holy well, will be the focus of the ceremony, which will honour water as the source of all life, and also celebrate the start of summer.

2023 has arrived and we’re still no nearer to knowing what the UK government has in store for the gambling industry. The Gambling Act 2005 needs updating to deal with the digital age but the White Paper that will reveal what reforms are on the way continues to be delayed.

St John Ambulance’s young volunteers give over 45,000 hours of lifesaving first aid support

Inspirational youngsters from across South West played essential roles, delivering healthcare and supporting local communities with St John Ambulance, in 2022.

Of the 9,000 5 to 17-year-olds in the first aid and health response charity’s Badger and Cadet programmes, 1,633 dedicated individuals gave over 45,700 hours of their time providing lifesaving first aid and care alongside adult St John volunteers – 2,760 of which were given by young people in the South West.

Childrens Charity Brainwave Raises £40,000 to fund a new therapist

Brainwave has announced that they achieved their target of raising an additional £40,000, to support with the costs of a full-time therapist for a year.

The charity has been blown away by the generosity of supporters across the UK, who despite the cost-of-living crisis have still dug deep to support them during their 40th anniversary year.
