NewsPoint) – The controversial English Defence League, will be heading to Norwich on Saturday, despite serious blows to their leadership and support base in recent weeks.

According to EDL News the demonstration is in support of a reverend who has been banned from distributing anti-Muslim literature in the market place.

The reverend, Alan Clifford, has been likened to the Westboro Baptist Church in the Unite States, and as well as being anti-Muslim, he is also anti-gay, and reportedly said:

"Like adulterers and murderers, homosexuals must repent of their particular sin if they wish to be part of Christ's Church and be saved. As there is no limit to the transforming power of God's grace and Holy Spirit, so those with homosexual tendencies may be delivered from them."

The EDL's support this this extremist reverend throws into question their claims of being only 'anti-Muslim', not racist or homophobic.

The group plan to march through the city in the early afternoon, and are as per usual unwelcome by the local community. A group calling themselves 'We Are Norwich' have planned a counter demonstration to oppose the unpopular group.
