This study compared average noise environments in leading student cities, allowing students to consider how this crucial element affects them.

Three Exeter School pupils win places with National Youth Theatre

Exeter School is proud to announce that three pupils have been offered membership to the National Youth Theatre.

Upper Fifth Former (Year 11) pupil Harriet Bridgwater and Lower Sixth (Year 12) pupils Stephanie Seedhouse and Emma Bates have all been offered places with the sought after theatre company.

Every year over 6,000 young people audition for places which are limited to between 600-700.

Military honours for Exeter School alumnae

Congratulations to alumnae Elizabeth Godwin (2013) and Lucy Swiggs (2014) who have both recently commissioned from Sandhurst Military Academy. Senior Under Officer Elizabeth was awarded the Sword of Honour and commissions into The Household Cavalry Regiment, making history as the first woman to do so since the regiment was formed in 1660. Second Lieutenant Lucy commissions into the 47 Regiment within the Royal Artillery and will be going to Cyprus in July. New research released today has found that students in Exeter are struggling with sleep, leaving a significant impact on their mental health with over a quarter (27%) admitting to using alcohol to help them rest.

Despite the Coronavirus restrictions, Devon’s schoolchildren will still be able to take part in the popular School Games this year. In fact, it’s ‘virtually’ the same as normal!

Active Devon, working with partners, is launching the ‘Virtual’ games which get underway with a Walk, Jog, Run challenge starting on Monday May 18th. Exeter College links up with Food4Heroes to provide meals for NHS staff

Exeter College has offered its state-of-the-art industrial kitchen facilities to Food4Heroes; a charity that provides free nutritious meals to frontline NHS staff during the Coronavirus pandemic.

The College’s @34 training kitchens will now be in use providing nutritionally balanced, free meals to NHS staff. These meals will include a vegetarian and a meat option and allergens will be listed on the dishes provided. Meals will be distributed to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital in microwavable containers for NHS staff to take.

A grassroots community project has raised an incredible £3000 in aid of their production of vital Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for community-based health and care workers in their first weekend. They are hoping to continue raising around £1000 a day to keep up with the demand for face shields in the local community.
