The education sector is undergoing a time of radical change as the COVID-19 pandemic quickly demonstrated why online education should be a part of teaching and learning.
With artificial intelligence, machine-learning, cloud computing and the wealth of other benefits technology brings to universities, new research released today by leading academic research company Ivory Research has revealed which UK universities are investing the most in technology.*
Topping the list is the Royal College of Music which invested £2,445,000 in technology over the last two academic years, equalling £2,747.19 per student! At the bottom of the list is the University of Surrey, which has invested just £23,518 on technology, and with a student population of 16,990 this amounts to just £1.38 per student!
Maria Ovdii, University Expert and Co-Founder of Ivory Research, said: “Technology is a huge part of learning, and the effective use of digital learning tools can increase student engagement, facilitate personalised learning and aid lecturers to improve their learning plans.
“Our research finds that, while some universities are investing in a significant amount in technology, work still needs to be done. Technology is vital to university students, especially after the pandemic led to a sharp swift from in-person teaching to online education.”
