Star Wars YODA creator at Devon festival
Wendy Froud, best known as the creator of the iconic YODA from Star Wars, will be at the legendary Chagford Film Festival on Thursday 25th September teaching puppet-making as part of a unique Froud day.
“Do, or do not. There is no "try", as Yoda the wise one from The Empire Strikes Back once said. This is the unique thinking behind the Chagford Film Festival, which opens its doors for the fourth year from the 22 - 27 September 2014.
This festival does “do”. It pushes the barriers, seeks adventure and provides a quirky and original programme. The festival looks to excite audiences, make them laugh, feel entertained, pursue their cultural aspirations, allow them to watch and engage in something new and cater for all ages and tastes.
The Wendy Froud Puppet Building Workshop takes place at Endecott House, Chagford on 25th September from 10am to 1pm and tickets go on sale on 5th September. Wendy will be joined by Toby Froud and William Todd-Jones (Todd) www.chagfordfilmfestival.com
Wendy Froud is an American sculptor and puppet-maker now living in Chagford with her husband, the English fantasy artist and concept designer, Brian Froud. Wendy is best known for her work creating Yoda for the 1980 film Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, as well as for creatures in The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth.
William Todd-Jones (Todd) is a British puppet designer, performer, director, movement consultant and writer, for film, television and theatre in the UK and abroad. He has performed creatures & puppets on numerous feature films including; The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Harry Potter V, Jim Henson’s Labyrinth, the various Muppet movies, The Neverending Story, Judge Dredd, Batman, Pinocchio, Lost in Space, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, 101 Dalmatians and Fierce Creatures.
