Exeter City draw against league leaders Luton

Match report: Exeter City 1 Luton Town 1

Exeter City came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against top-of-the-league Luton Town at St James Park.

It was no less than Exeter deserved from a performance which saw the home side control a bulk of the possession and create most of the chances, but it was always going to need a gutsy performance as the Hatters took an early lead.

It was Scott Griffiths that rose highest after just three minutes to head in a corner, leaving Exeter trailing at the break.

But with 20 minutes to play, Tom Nichols got Exeter on terms...

Chiefs serve up a Halloween weekend treat

Exeter Chiefs 28 Gloucester 27

On Halloween weekend, Exeter Chiefs served up their supporters a timely treat as they kicked off the defence of their LV= Cup crown with a thrilling 28-27 victory over rivals Gloucester at Sandy Park.

A converted penalty try – two minutes from time – proved the difference on the day, although the visiting Cherry & Whites could easily have stolen it had Aled Thomas not seen a penalty chance cannon back of the posts with the very last kick of the game.

In what was a pulsating encounter throughout, the Chiefs sealed victory thanks to...

Ricky Pellow expects to see a real hunger amongst his Exeter Chiefs side as they look to kick off the defence of their LV= Cup crown with victory over Gloucester tomorrow (3pm). In what was a memorable campaign for the Devon club last season, the Chiefs collected their first piece of major silverware when they sunk Northampton Saints 15-8 at their own Sandy Park home back in March. This weekend, however, it all begins again for the Chiefs and Pellow, who has again been entrusted as head coach for the competition. As has become the norm in recent years for the club, youth will again get it'...

Mumm wants to make more memories

Dean Mumm says the opportunity is there for him and his Exeter Chiefs team-mates to go out and “start making new memories” ahead of the club’s defence of their LV= Cup crown this weekend.

It was back in March that the Australian international had the honour of lifting Exeter’s first piece of major silverware when the Chiefs defeated Northampton Saints on their own Sandy Park turf.

Skipper Mumm grabbed one of two tries on the day, the other going to hooker Chris Whitehead, as Rob Baxter’s claimed a memorable 15-8 victory.

But now the 30-year-old is looking to kick on...

There's more to come says Steeno

Gareth Steenson insists there is still "more to come" from him despite landing another milestone in his illustrious Exeter Chiefs career. Steenson's eight-point haul in last weekend's European Challenge Cup victory over Connacht not only helped his side move to the top of Pool Two, but it also took him past 1,500 career points for the Devon club. Now into his seventh season at Sandy Park, the Dungannon-born star has played an integral part in the recent rise of the Chiefs. His metronomic right boot has not only helped to down teams across England and Europe, but it's helped pin-point Rob...

Exmouth to host Plymouth in Devon Bowl

The Pilgrims travel to the East Devon coast for tonight's Edenvale Turf Devon St Lukes Challenge Cup 2nd Round clash with Exmouth Town. Though the visitors from League Two are likely to field a young side, the tie poses a tough task for the SWPL Premier side who are facing a club six tiers above themselves. Town last year stunned St James Park by taking an early lead and holding at 2-2 by the hourmark, eventually losing 4-2 to a mostly professional Exeter City squad. Exmouth will also take encouragement from Argyle's previous shock losses to Ilfracombe, Dawlish, Barnstaple,...

Exeter city climb to 10th

Match report: Morecambe 0 Exeter City 2

The Grecians grabbed a sixth win in eight games to return to the top half of the table as they overcame Morecambe 2-0 at the Globe Arena.

Shaun Beeley inadvertently gave Exeter the lead early on as he diverted Christian Ribeiro’s cross into his own net, and second-half sub Tom Nichols rounded it off late on with a fine finish.

It also represented a first clean-sheet of the season with everyone mucking in to help Christy Pym keep the door shut from the Shrimps attack.

Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale named an unchanged...

Exeter Chiefs 33 Connacht 13

Exeter Chiefs moved to the top of Pool Two in this season’s European Rugby Challenge Cup with an impressive five-try victory over visiting Connacht.

Rob Baxter’s side put to bed the disappointment of defeat to Bayonne seven days earlier by producing a ruthless display that swot aside the attentions of the visiting Irish province.

First half tries from Will Chudley, Henry Slade and Damian Welch set them on course for victory before man-of-the-match Dave Ewers and Ben White got in on the act during the second period.

Irish fly-half Gareth Steenson plundered four of...

Exeter Chiefs side to face Connacht

Rob Hunter believes Exeter Chiefs will deliver a rapid response this weekend as they look to get their European Challenge Cup campaign back on track against visiting Connacht tomorrow (3pm).

Undone at the death by a late try from Bayonne’s Lisiate Fa’aoso a week ago, the Chiefs are looking to put to bed the disappointing 30-24 loss at the Stade Jean Dauger by delivering a powerful display on home soil.

Already this term Harlequins and London Irish have been accounted for at Sandy Park in the Aviva Premiership, whilst Leicester Tigers were pushed all the way in the other...
