Young Welsh prop joins Exeter Chiefs Women

Exeter Chiefs Women have signed exciting young prop Maisie Davies from Bristol Bears.

The loosehead had moved to Bristol for the 2025/26 PWR season after an outstanding campaign for Gwalia Lightning in 2024/25 and being named MVP for Wales U20s’ Women’s Summer Series in 2024.

At just 20 years old, Davies has already racked up 17 caps for Wales and played in the Rugby World Cup last year.

Formerly a goal-kicking blindside flanker for Cardiff Metropolitan, Davies moved to the front row just months before she headed off for the Summer Series in Parma. She scored...

Grecians return home disappointed after Argyle claim victory in Devon Derby

Plymouth Argyle 1 Exeter City 0

Exeter City finished on the wrong side of a 1-0 scoreline at Home Park, as Plymouth Argyle took the victory in the second Devon Derby of the season.

The Grecians had started the brighter in the game, but as Argyle settled, they looked more and more threatening.

They finally made the breakthrough just before the interval, with a piece of individual skill by Jason Banton who fired in a fine strike from distance.

Exeter remained within touching distance but it just crept away from them, as chances went amiss in the closing stages...

Exeter City's Trust Seeking Deputy Finance Officer

Nigel Banks, the Trust Finance Officer, has decided to take a back seat after 10 years and intends to step down at the conclusion of this year’s AGM. With this in mind the Trust are looking to recruit a Deputy Finance Officer as soon as possible to work with Nigel over the next 6 months with a view to ensuring a smooth handover at the end of that period.

Initial time commitment can be flexible but for the Finance Officer it is likely to be on average 5 hours per week and more at busy times. In addition to bookkeeping skills, a current working knowledge of PAYE, Corporation tax and...

Jess Joins the 100 club

Exeter Chiefs speedster Matt Jess believes if his side go out and attack the last four games of the season, then the Devon club will have every chance of securing a top six spot in the Aviva Premiership.

Just 24 hours before he and his team-mates are due to travel to rivals Worcester Warriors, the 28-year-old emphasised the importance of the Chiefs setting out their stall from minute one at Sixways.

Jess was involved in last season’s dramatic victory for the Chiefs at the same venue, when late tries from Phil Dollman and Sireli Naqelevuki in the final two minutes not only...

All square between Exeter Civil and Alphas

EXETER CIVIL SERVICE 1-1 ALPHINGTON

The all-Exeter derby ended in a draw as Exeter Civil Service and Alphington finished 1-1 at Foxhayes in the SouthWest Peninsula Div 1 East.

This was probably the last time Exeter Civil Service in their current guise will host the neighbours before a summer name change. A strong crowd as well as a decent pitch and weather set the basis for a fiery contest which didn't disappoint.

Both of the city's suburban sides started lively with several early chances. The opener, though, came from an unlikely source - when Paul Gibbins made a...

Baseball comes to Exeter with the arrival of the Spitfires

Exeter has a surprisingly strong link with the sport of Baseball due to a former resident named Henry Chadwick, and now the city has its own team.

The Spitfires will play each of their opponents four times, twice each home and away, with a game being played every two weeks on a Sunday.

The season itself will run from 14 April, when the Spitfires start their season at the...

Cricket club onto a great run with completion of new pavilion

After months of dedication, work on the new Heathcoat Cricket Club Pavilion is on the verge of completion at the National Trust estate, Knightshayes, near Tiverton.

All the volunteers who helped with the project are now eagerly awaiting the arrival of former England cricket captain, Mike Gatting, who will be adding final touches to the ground on Saturday 6 April.

Established in the 1920s by John Heathcoat Amory for his Tiverton factory workers, the Heathcoat Cricket Club has always had a strong association with Knightshayes and the local community.

England turn to Baxter for Argentina tour

Rob Baxter has spoken of his delight after it was confirmed that he will form part of England's coaching team for their summer's tour to Argentina. The Exeter Chiefs head coach, along with Saracens defence and forwards coach Paul Gustard, will form part of the coaching team assembled by England head coach Stuart Lancaster for the trip to South America in June. Subject to Aviva Premiership placings, Tavistock-born Baxter will link up with Lancaster and attacking skills coach Mike Catt to prepare for the Killik Cup against the Barbarians at Twickenham on May 26, while Gustard will be...

Police and football clubs prepare for local derby

Plymouth Argyle are keen to ensure Exeter City fans visiting the city for the upcoming local derby enjoy a competitive game of football, where the match is remembered for the right reasons.

Superintendent Chris Eastwood, police match commander said: “My message is clear – this is an event for families to enjoy, young and old and let’s keep the rivalry and banter good natured. Anyone who has other ideas will be dealt with robustly.

The police have been working closely with both clubs to ensure appropriate resources – police and stewards – are in place so fans can attend the...

Chiefs keen to learn from recent defeat

Long-serving No.8 Richard Baxter believes that Exeter Chiefs are still learning in the Aviva Premiership and that is key to their future in the top flight.

Baxter, who captained the Devon club in their narrow defeat to Leicester Tigers at the weekend, is taking all the positives out of the performance at Sandy Park – whilst at the same time focusing his attentions firmly on Saturday’s trip up the M5 to rivals Worcester Warriors (3pm)

“Full credit to Leicester, they were able to grind out the result better than we did,” said Baxter afterwards. “At the moment we’re striving...

There has been a change to departure times for the Devon Derby against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday 30 March.
