Exeter Chiefs chairman Tony Rowe believes that the club’s impending takeover by an American consortium could transform the Gallagher Premiership.

The billionaire owners of English Premier League club Bournemouth have agreed a deal for the club, subject to the membership’s approval at an extraordinary general meeting on May 7.

If the deal is ratified, Exeter Chiefs will become the latest Premiership team alongside Newcastle and Bath to secure major new investment.

EXETER CIVIL SERVICE 1-1 ALPHINGTON

The all-Exeter derby ended in a draw as Exeter Civil Service and Alphington finished 1-1 at Foxhayes in the SouthWest Peninsula Div 1 East.

This was probably the last time Exeter Civil Service in their current guise will host the neighbours before a summer name change. A strong crowd as well as a decent pitch and weather set the basis for a fiery contest which didn't disappoint.

Both of the city's suburban sides started lively with several early chances. The opener, though, came from an unlikely source - when Paul Gibbins made a...

Plymouth Argyle are keen to ensure Exeter City fans visiting the city for the upcoming local derby enjoy a competitive game of football, where the match is remembered for the right reasons.

Superintendent Chris Eastwood, police match commander said: “My message is clear – this is an event for families to enjoy, young and old and let’s keep the rivalry and banter good natured. Anyone who has other ideas will be dealt with robustly.

The police have been working closely with both clubs to ensure appropriate resources – police and stewards – are in place so fans can attend the...

Chiefs keen to learn from recent defeat

Long-serving No.8 Richard Baxter believes that Exeter Chiefs are still learning in the Aviva Premiership and that is key to their future in the top flight.

“Full credit to Leicester, they were able to grind out the result better than we did,” said Baxter afterwards. “At the moment we’re striving...
