Exeter ladies prepare double blow for cancer at Race for Life 10k

Hundreds of ladies are preparing to give cancer ‘double trouble’ at Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life by taking part in the 10k event at Westpoint Exeter this month.

Race for Life 10k will take place on Sunday, 26 July and over 600 determined ladies have already signed up to show the disease that hell hath no fury like a woman in pink.

Event organisers are calling on mothers, daughters, sisters, friends and workmates who want to take on the challenge to sign up as soon as possible.

Over 50 members of the local business community enjoyed wine and a two-course lunch at Exeter Golf & Country Club hosted by the Business Network (SW).

A pre-event seminar was hosted by Ian Dunstan and Jim Taylor of Cobalt Communications titled ‘The Internet of Things’.

An after lunch presentation was given by Jon Beake MioD, the SaBRE and Employer Engagement Director of Wessex Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association on ‘How to gain a Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Award’.

Brewin Dolphin celebrate their annual summer party

More than 200 clients and professionals joined the Directors of Wealth Management Company, Brewin Dolphin at Exeter Castle for the local firm’s annual summer party.

Guests were served Prosecco, Pimm’s and canapés in the sunshine and enjoyed classical music from harpist Elizabeth-Jane Baldry.

Representatives of the British Red Cross, Charity of the Year for Brewin Dolphin Exeter office, were also on hand to talk about the works they do and bought along two of their vehicles for guests to explore.

A brand new networking event is set to kickstart in Exeter this month, set up for anyone interested in the latest digital trends or anyone working in digital.

Eight business people from around Exeter took part in the Kirk Hills Omelette Challenge, the second year that it’s run at the Exeter Festival of South West Food and Drink.

The Challenge was judged by Michael Caines MBE who showed the contestants how it should be done with a time of 28 seconds. Paul Nero from Radio Exe was compere for the event.

Keith Biggs from OTB Eveling was defending champion and looked like he would win again this year with the best time in the initial round. However there was an ‘egg off’ between Keith and the second fastest Chris Bentley from Exeter...

Leading Women UK Election Special

In the lead up to the 2015 General Election, Leading Women UK hosted a series of Election Special networking events across Devon.

These events were open to men and women and gave attendees the chance to have their questions answered by a panel of political representatives.

On Thursday 16 April the Exeter Election Special took place at the Southgate Hotel.

Association raises over £1,000 for charity

Members of the Exeter & Heart of Devon Hotels & Restaurants Association raised over £1,000 for three chosen charities at this year’s annual dinner. The three chosen charities were, Cancer Research UK, Hospitality Action and Equine Protection South West.
