Ladies do lunch - again

It’s back! Exeter’s highly successful Ladies Do Lunch re-launches next month with a glorious Christmas celebration.

The new look luncheon club is now being run by renowned after dinner speaker Sally Sedgman who previously hosted Ladies Do lunches at the Royal Clarence Hotel on Cathedral Green.

The Exeter PA Network enjoyed a cheeky Monday night wine tasting in Circa 1924’s ‘Bootleg Bar’, hosted by James Leach from Charles Steevenson Wines. Members of the networking group were taken through a selection from the restaurants’ wine list, carefully chosen to complement the steak and seafood menu. So you are probably thinking – what is the connection between a 1920s, prohibition-inspired, restaurant and bar, and the humble crayfish? Well, the answer is Circa 1924’s head chef Lauri Hilli, whose Swedish roots inspired the team to celebrate the tradition of Kräftskiva, a feast of crayfish and schnapps.

The Gilbert Stephens Young Professionals Network (YPN) this month donned hard hats and trainers on a spooky Halloween tour around Exeter’s Underground Passages. The networking group got up close and personal as they worked their way around the system of medieval passages under Exeter High Street and were taught more about the city as a centre of commerce and historical importance.

After the tour, the group emerged above ground, dusted themselves off and headed over to Artigiano coffee and wine bar to socialise over craft beer and shared pizza planks.

Circa 1924, the new kids on the block in Exeter’s culinary scene, threw a party to celebrate the opening of its seafood, steak house and cool moonshiner cocktail bar.

Northgate House blessed at Buckfast Abbey

A special service was held at Buckfast Abbey in Buckfastleigh to bless its recently reopened Northgate House, which has been transformed into luxurious retreat and conference accommodation following an extensive refurbishment project.

Exeter ladies prepare double blow for cancer at Race for Life 10k

Hundreds of ladies are preparing to give cancer ‘double trouble’ at Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life by taking part in the 10k event at Westpoint Exeter this month.

Race for Life 10k will take place on Sunday, 26 July and over 600 determined ladies have already signed up to show the disease that hell hath no fury like a woman in pink.

Event organisers are calling on mothers, daughters, sisters, friends and workmates who want to take on the challenge to sign up as soon as possible.
