BRYANT Dr David Stewart

Peacefully at home on Friday 30th November 2012. Husband of Kathi and retired French lecturer at Cardiff University. David will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.

Private family funeral service will be held at Higher Cemetery in Exeter followed by burial close to his parents. A memorial service will be held in Cardiff early in the New Year.

Family Flowers only donations in lieu of flowers to Cancer Research, Velindre Hospital, Cardiff CF14 2TL.

BEECHENER Marjorie

Unexpectedly on 27th November 2012 passed away peacefully in hospital whilst in her beloved Portugal aged 92 years.

Loving wife of Richard (Dick), dearly loved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother.

A Humanist celebration of Marjorie’s long and happy life will take place on Tuesday 11th December at 11.30am at St Peters Chapel, Exeter Crematorium, Topsham Road, Exeter EX2 6EU followed by private interment at Exeter Woodland Burial Ground. Colourful clothing please.

On 8th December 2012 peacefully in Yatton aged 87 years, after a short illness formerly of Exeter.

Darling husband of Joan, much loved Dad of Cass, Richard and Anne-Marie, dearly loved father-in-law of Daniela and Roy, and a loving grandad of Sam, Iggi, Sophia and Frankie.

Funeral Service on Wednesday 19th December at the Sacred Heart RC Church, South Street at 10am for Mass followed by interment in Higher Cemetery.

On 1st December 2012 passed away peacefully in the RD&E Hospital aged 87 years after a short illness fought with dignity.

(NewsPoint) –Tributes from around the world have been made for Pandit Ravi Shankar, the composer and sitar player who famously guided the Beatles, after his family announced he had died in southern California. Shankar, 92, was the bridge between Indian music and the West. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said “An era has passed away with Pandit Ravi Shankar. The nation joins me to pay tributes to his unsurpassable genius, his art and his humility. He was national treasure and global ambassador of India's cultural heritage.”

Sir Patrick Moore, astronomer and broadcaster, dies aged 89

British astronomer and broadcaster Sir Patrick Moore, who was born in Pinner, Middlesex on 4th Mar 1923, has passed away peacefully at his home in Selsey, West Sussex, at the age of 89.

Sir Patrick presented the BBC programme The Sky At Night for over 50 years, making him the longest-running host of the same television show ever. He wrote dozens of books on astronomy and his research was used by the US and the Russians in their space programmes.

Friends of Michelle Conroy gather to say farewell

On Sunday afternoon, friends of Michelle Conroy gathered outside the St Petrock’s Centre on the Cathedral Green to say their goodbyes. Michelle was the young homeless person who was killed by a falling tree during the storms last week.

About 50 people were present, most of them from Michelle’s ‘street family’. One friend sang a song and then prayers were led by Canon Anna Norman-Walker from the Cathedral. Everyone was then invited to write a few words in a book of remembrance. This will be in St Petrock’s this coming week and then sent to Michelle’s family in the Channel...
