Live music fans are set for another celebration of amazing entertainment in the Devon countryside as TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham confirms its return for 2026.

Following its debut outing at the historic country estate this July, which saw headline performances from Duran Duran and Basement Jaxx, Live Nation’s Cuffe and Taylor are now planning for a bigger and better event next summer with plans to unveil the first 2026 headliner in the coming weeks.

Cash boost for deaf football coaches

Deaf footballers in Exeter hoping to become coaches have been given a £1,000 boost to help pay for sign language interpreters.

Exeter City Football in the Community have a deaf football team known as Exeter City Knights who train weekly and play in monthly Ability Counts tournaments.

Some of the players are keen to become coaches but need support to take the FA courses.

Housebuilder Persimmon Homes South West has stepped in with a £1,000 donation to help pay for two sign language interpreters to translate alongside FA Tutors during the course.

Wildlife gardening at Cranbrook this weekend

Cranbrook Country Park is hosting a wildlife gardening session this Saturday morning, February 25.

The session will take place between 10am and 12pm; families are invited to take part in building homes for the wildlife in the area.

Children will have the opportunity to create bird feeders for their own gardens and build a safe environment for bees using a baked bean tin and bamboo.

There will also be the chance to help build a bug hotel which is made from leftover materials.

Shaldon Bridge is set to be raised once a year to ensure that the recently refurbished structure remains operational and to allow essential maintenance.

Last Friday (February 17) Devon County Council contractors, under the direction of the authority’s Bridges Team, successfully completed a trial raising of the bridge’s lifting span. An Act of Parliament requires that the bridge, which links Shaldon with Teignmouth across the River Teign, remains operational. Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter has spoken of his delight after three of his current squad today put pen to paper on new deals with the Aviva Premiership club.

Props Ben Moon (top right) and Carl Rimmer (main picture), together with hooker Shaun Malton, have all agreed terms to extend their stays at Sandy Park.

WARNING over strong winds as Storm Doris hits

Some very strong winds are expected today (Thursday) in association with storm Doris with gusts of 60-70 mph likely, and 70-80 mph on coasts and hills.

Whilst the strongest winds look to be only short-lived, damage to structures, interruptions to power supplies and widespread disruption to travel networks are likely, with a danger of injury from flying debris. Trees are also likely to be damaged or blown over.

Investigation launched into cause of fire at Riverside Leisure Centre

An investigation has been launched to determine how the blaze started at Exeter’s Riverside Leisure centre yesterday.

Emergency services worked together to tackle the major incident.

At around 4.20pm on Tuesday 21 February, Devon and Somerset Fire Service (DSFS) alerted police to a major fire within Riverside Leisure Centre, near to the Exe Bridges junction. A number of emergency support vehicles including around 17 fire appliances attended the scene to deal with this incident.

Pupils at Cranbrook Education Campus are relishing new books for their library, provided through Cranbrook’s Healthy Town scheme which is funded by NHS England’s Healthy New Town programme.
