The bike in question is a very special three-wheeler and it belongs to local nature charity, Devon Wildlife Trust. Since April the Trust has been running a project which is working with most of the schools in Exeter, helping them to take their pupils out of the classroom and into the great outdoors to learn more about nature and themselves.

The Exeter Schools Project, as it is known, is being supported by players of the People’s Postcode Lottery. Its aim is simple: to...

Amy Jones, having battled with her weight over the years, has found a solution for herself, and a way to help others.

At one time being a fit and healthy mum seemed out of reach for Amy. She was nearly 17 stone and struggling with health issues and anxiety.

Following a history of joint problems, surgeries, three children, and trying every diet plan going, Amy decided to join a Slimming World group in Countess Wear, Exeter in February 2016. She turned to the Extra Easy Food Optimising plan and discovered that weight loss needn’t be a struggle.

The key to her success...

Dogs living in the South West of England are more likely to have longer walks than the national average, according to a new survey.

The survey, of more than 3,000 dog-owners across the country, showed that 38% of dogs have a walk of longer than an hour, compared to 35% nationally.

The survey was commissioned in the lead up to the RSPCA’s Big Walkies challenge in October, which invites people to walk 10,000 steps a day, with or without a dog, to raise money for animals in need. The results also found that 22% of dogs in the region have three walks a day - while almost 7%...

A £1 million flood prevention scheme in Axminster has been completed.

The Devon County Council scheme in Willhay Lane, which has widened and realigned the Millbrook culvert to improve its capacity and flow of water, now provides vital protection to over 160 homes. A new structure has fully enclosed part of the flood prone channel and earlier phases of the scheme enabled the construction of a flood defence wall and the installation of a ‘tree-catcher’ debris grill upstream of the culvert beneath Willhay Lane.
