Gandy Street is the place to be on the First Thursdays of the month this summer

First Thursdays is a new event you won’t want to miss.

From June to September, Gandy Street will come alive on the first Thursday of each month, with a festival atmosphere in the early evening.

The first event takes place on Thursday 4 June, 5–8pm. Expect late-night shopping, live music, street entertainment, extended opening hours at cultural venues and a cocktail trail. All your favourite businesses on Gandy Street and in the surrounding area will be open, including:

The University of Exeter has appointed Craig Nowell as Director of Campus Infrastructure and Operational Support Services. He will join the University in March 2018.

This is a new role for the University and comprises overall responsibility for Campus Services which includes the University’s Sport, Residential Services, Retail and Catering, Facilities Management and Event Exeter teams.

An East Devon beauty-spot has become the venue for a new ‘mindfulness trail’, promising visitors the chance to get away from some of the worst stresses and strains of modern life. The trail has been established at Devon Wildlife Trust’s Bystock Pools nature reserve, in East Devon, and is the brainchild of local woman Clare Carter. Police appeal after serious assault in Exeter pub

Officers are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Exeter on Saturday 25 November 2017.

The incident happened on the Western Way Inner Bypass at around 3.20am by The Kingfisher pub.

A male offender, known to the two victims, allegedly assaulted them with a bladed article causing injury to the arm and the shoulder. The victims received minor injuries.

A 20-year-old man from Exeter was arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Thieves steal Devon woman's home

Police are urgently seeking information following the theft of a home in Willand, near Cullompton.

The incident happened between 6pm on Wednesday 22 November and 6am on Thursday 23 November 2017 at The Yard on Willand Road, Cullompton.

Thieves entered a yard and loaded the 40ft static caravan on to a flat trailer and removed it from the yard.

The victim, a local woman, was not present at the time of the offence and is now without a home. Pictures of the park home are attached. The serial number is SA11.049221E.

Ottery St Mary coffee shop and children’s play kingdom, Tickety-Boo collected its first ever gong in the Devon Tourism Awards.

The coffee shop received a bronze award, which means it is recognised as being in the top three café/tea rooms in the county, judged on such elements as inclusivity, customer service and sustainability including local sourcing. The Devon based charity, The Donkey Sanctuary, has had one of its John Deere tractors stolen between 3:30pm on Saturday 25 November and 9:00am on Sunday 26 November.

Devon and Cornwall Police are investigating the theft of the John Deere 6220 Loader Tractor, registration number, WA06 FVO. The tractor has a bucket on the front and a new scraper on the back.

Overnight closures on Bridge Road in Exeter this week

Overnight closures are planned for Bridge Road in Exeter over two evenings this week.

The road will be closed overnight from 8.30pm tonight (Tuesday 28 November) to 5.30am tomorrow morning, and during the same hours overnight tomorrow evening (Wednesday 29 November). The closures will enable work to be carried out on bridge expansion joints, as well as resurfacing and drainage cleaning. The work is weather dependant.
