Devon County Show Confirms 106,000 Visitors in Another Record-Breaking Year

The tickets have now been counted, and Devon County Show has officially confirmed an audited attendance of 106,000 visitors for 2026 — an uplift of 5,000 on last year’s record-breaking figure.

This year’s Show coincided with the late May half‑term break, a rare calendar alignment that contributed to an especially strong family turnout. While children go free on Saturday and therefore cannot be fully audited, the organisers witnessed a noticeably higher number of young visitors enjoying the attractions, activities and livestock displays.

Devon carers have been honoured for more than one thousand years of dedicated service to the Southern Healthcare care group.

The care home group, which has award-winning care homes in Exeter, Plymouth, Seaton, and Dawlish, invited 93 team members to an event celebrating long service for five, ten, 15, and 20 continuous years at the company.

Cranbrook celebrates a landmark event, with its first large supermarket opening in the run up to Christmas and the town centre quickly taking shape.

The supermarket’s arrival is seen as a pivotal moment in the evolution of Cranbrook, which has been steadily developing since the first foundations were laid in 2011.

The new town has grown significantly, now having more than 3,000 homes. This number is expected to grow to around 8,000 homes with an eventual population of more than 20,000 people, making it one of the biggest towns in East Devon.

A former top Exeter policeman will spend Christmas Day in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean aboard a 38-foot boat.

Inspirational Deaf Academy student to be honoured on national hero TV show

The resilience and bravery of one of the Deaf Academy’s inspirational students will be celebrated on national television this month.

Hafwen Clarke, 20, has been recognised by the Welsh TV channel S4C’s show ‘Dathlu Dewrder’, a programme which celebrates courageous individuals from Wales.

The Academy in Exmouth recently welcomed a film crew from S4C who interviewed Hafwen to discover more about her achievements and to present her with her ‘Celebrating Courage’ award. Her interview will feature on S4C on December 27th at 8pm.

Congratulations to the University of Exeter’s winter graduates

Hundreds of students have been honoured for their years of hard work at winter graduation ceremonies at the University of Exeter.

More than 2,600 students, from 89 countries, graduated from 250 different prestigious courses. They were joined by 6,000 guests, there to wish them well.
