Exeter Chiefs open new X-ray room with a jungle-style makeover

Stars from the Exeter Chiefs Rugby Club officially opened a newly refurbished paediatric X-ray room at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital recently.

The room has been given a jungle-style makeover so it is more friendly and welcoming for children thanks to a fundraising campaign led by Radiology staff and the support of digital imaging company Agfa HealthCare.

It is the second room to receive a makeover as a result of the RD&E’s Big Raise for Little Rays campaign.

The TSB in Exmouth is urging people to ‘Take Five’ to stop fraud. Next phase of A380 improvements due to start

The latest phase of a programme of repairs on the A380 will start next week.

The work at Ware Barton is due to start on Monday 29 January and is expected to take around two months to complete. The majority of the work on this section of the road will involve the replacement of the existing waterproofing of the two bridges over the junction, but it will also include the replacement of barriers, reconstruction of the pavement, vegetation clearance and drains will also be cleaned. After eight extraordinary years, The Bike Shed Theatre and Bar will close its doors on 31 March.

The Bike Shed first opened as a pop-up, transforming two dank cellars into a make-shift cocktail bar and theatre. Around one hundred and eighty people attended a seminar last week organised by CPRE Devon to address the controversial issue of where new homes should be built in Exeter, East Devon, Teignbridge and Mid Devon.

Exeter College today announced that a record breaking 24 students are holding offers to study at Oxford and Cambridge starting in 2018. A total of 17 students have been offered places at Oxford and seven at Cambridge in a diverse range of subjects from Medicine to Law. Week long closure of Iron Bridge in Exeter

Iron Bridge in Exeter will be closed next week for routine maintenance to be carried out.

The road will be closed between Paul Street and Dinham Road from Monday 29 January until Friday 2 February to enable new width restriction bollards and signs to be installed. The bridge deck will also be inspected during the closure with trial holes being excavated in order to inform future improvement work to the structure and its drainage. Police appeal after woman robbed at cash point in Exeter

Officers are appealing for witnesses following a theft outside the Co-operative bank on Exeter High Street.

The incident took place on Friday 19 January between 11:20pm and 11:45pm. The victim, an 18-year-old woman, was approached by two men after withdrawing a quantity of money from the cash point in Exeter High Street.

The cash was taken from the victim’s hands by the two offenders before they made off.
