A Devon-based boat club says more people across Devon are turning away from traditional ownership in favour of flexible memberships that offer access to the sea without the expense and upkeep of owning a vessel.

Freedom Boat Club, which operates from Beacon Quay in Torquay Harbour, has reported growing interest as rising maintenance costs, storage fees and insurance bills make private boat ownership increasingly expensive for many households.

Instead, members pay a monthly fee to access a fleet of boats that are cleaned, fuelled, insured and maintained by the company....

Tributes to paid to 'Mr Exeter' Ron Crabb

Tributes have been paid to ‘Mr Exeter’ Ron Crabb BEM, a much-loved and well-known personality who served as a Mace Sergeant at Exeter Guildhall for 22 years.

Ron died on Monday following a short illness. He was 87 years old and during his time as Mace Sergeant he served a total of 23 Mayors and Lord Mayors and in January was made a Freeman of the City. He was also a top-class football referee and has taken charge of games involving every team in the current Premier League with the exception of Everton! Since 2014, RGB Building Supplies has donated £23,000 worth of building materials to clubs, charities, schools and groups through its Well Built Community Fund and it’s delighted to announce the fund is returning for another 12-months.

Some services to relocate from Exeter Bus Station as work starts on redevelopment

The start of enabling works needed to redevelop Exeter Bus Station means some services will relocate from the current site in June, the City Council and Stagecoach have revealed.

From Sunday, June 17, some services will temporarily relocate to nearby dedicated stands on street.

Seven bays will remain in use at the bus station.

Details of the relocated services are highlighted below.

This arrangement will stay in place throughout the period of construction to create a new Exeter Bus Station, which is expected to open in the winter of 2020.
