Devon Young Carers shine at the 2025 Young Carers Festival

Seventeen young carers from across Devon have enjoyed a well-deserved break from their caring responsibilities at the largest festival in the world dedicated to young people with unpaid caring roles.

It’s the 25th year that Devon Young Carers has attended the Young Carers Festival at YMCA Fairthorne Manor at Botley in Hampshire. The first expansion of Cranbrook gets a green light

East Devon District Council (EDDC) has granted planning permission for the first expansion of Cranbrook. It is the largest planning permission issued by EDDC since permission for the new town was issued, more than 13 years ago.

The expansion allows up to 1435 homes and 10 permanent pitches for gypsies and travellers to be created. There will be a new three form entry primary school, a special educational needs school, a neighbourhood centre, land for a place of worship, a vicarage and a cemetery. Sergeant from Devon & Cornwall Police raises thousands for Spinal Research ​

On Sunday 21 April 2024 a Devon & Cornwall Police Sergeant completed this year’s London Marathon in a wheelchair, raising more than £3,000 for the charity Spinal Research.

Sergeant Andy Elliott, who works in the training department based at Force HQ in Exeter, does not use a wheelchair in his day-to-day life. He decided to take part in a chair to show support for his close friend Andrew Russell who suffered a serious spinal injury in 1996 and does use a wheelchair.

Woman arrested in Exeter on suspicion of being a loan shark

A 46-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of illegal money lending following an operation in Exeter.

The England Illegal Money Lending Team (IMLT) , working in partnership with officers from Devon and Cornwall Police, executed a warrant at an address in the Pennsylvania area on Wednesday, April 24.

Officers seized electronic devices and paperwork.

The suspect was taken into custody to be questioned by IMLT investigators and later released on bail pending further inquiries.

White rabbit Casey is only two years and six months old - so has been patiently waiting for a new home most of his life.

He came into the care of the RSPCA’s Little Valley Animal Centre in Exeter, Devon, while he was still a kit, but has now grown into an adult rabbit who wants to share a home with a female bunny.
