Exeter Racecourse has launched a brand-new Community Raceday and is inviting people across Devon to nominate a community hero who deserves recognition.

Community Raceday takes place on Friday, February 20, during half term, and coincides with Devon Day at the racecourse. The initiative celebrates the people who make a real difference in their communities – from volunteers and carers to sports coaches, fundraisers and quiet grafters who go above and beyond.

THOUSANDS of people will show their support for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) communities in the region by attending the 10th Exeter Pride event on Saturday, May 12.

Dartmoor Rangers are launching a new campaign asking people to Love Moor Life and follow their new ‘Ranger Code’.

The new Ranger Code asks visitors to the National Park to follow six simple steps to help them look after this special landscape and protect the wildlife and livestock that live on Dartmoor.

The organ installed to celebrate Buckfast Abbey’s millennium will be the centrepiece of a special evening concert by Exeter Philharmonic Choir on Saturday May 19th, the night of the Royal Wedding.

Devon-based lifestyle blogger Clara George, 22, has won the online vote of a prestigious regional beauty contest; giving her two chances to reach the nationwide Miss England pageant.

With no contest in the Devon region this year, all local contestants like Clara were entered into the Miss Bristol competition. Clara came first in the phone vote with 644 votes, ahead of her nearest competitor who received 514. Summer Sunday trains to and from Okehampton will return later this month.

The Great Western Railway (GWR) service, funded by Devon County Council, will run four trains each way between Okehampton and Exeter every Sunday, from Sunday 20 May to Sunday 9 September.

The service, which launched in 1997, is part of the ongoing efforts to re-introduce regular services on the line.
