The Donkey Sanctuary staff hand-rear foal after he’s rejected by his mother

Staff at the international animal welfare charity, The Donkey Sanctuary, have taken on the task of hand-rearing a new born foal after it was rejected by its mother, who herself had been rescued by the charity.

Leyla Anstee, farm manager, The Donkey Sanctuary’s Brookfield Farm, says: “The mare and foal were not together or showing any signs of the bonding process which would normally take place. We carefully tried to encourage her to accept him, but this young and inexperienced mum simply did not want to let her foal suckle - it was clear that she had rejected him.”

A Devon home care service has been rated outstanding for the quality of care and support it provides to vulnerable people.

Bay Care has received the highest accolade from the Care Quality Commission after an inspection carried out in March.

The South West Falcon from Stagecoach is celebrating May in style with a prestigious awards win coinciding with a major passenger milestone.

The Falcon has won the silver award for ‘Top Express Operation’ at the UK Coach Awards. Dementia Action week is fast approaching and begins on Monday 21st May.

Awareness is not enough and this year sees Dementia Awareness week change to Dementia Action week 2018.

The UK's largest cycle race, The Tour of Britain, is returning to Devon this autumn.

Stage 2 of the race will take place on Monday September 3, starting in the UK’s newest town, Cranbrook, in East Devon and finishing in Barnstaple, North Devon.

The showground at Westpoint, Exeter is a hive of activity as final preparations are made in time for the 123rd Devon County Show on May 17, 18 and 19.
