Work to start on Heavitree Road bus improvements

Improvement work to enhance bus services on Heavitree Road in Exeter will get underway next month (February).

The scheme, which will start on Monday 2 February, involves the construction of a new traffic island and installation of a new set of traffic signals at the end of the outbound (eastbound) bus lane between Grendon Road and Polsloe Road/Barrack Road.

These new signals will give buses priority at the Polsloe Road / Barrack Road junction, making it easier for buses to progress towards Heavitree Fore Street or move from the bus lane into the right turn lane for...

Network Rail has given approval for Phase 3 of East Devon District Council’s flood alleviation scheme in Feniton, which consists of laying a one metre diameter culvert beneath the railway line.

This is the first part of the services it is providing to East Devon, which will help complete the project. A suitable 52 hour window in October 2019 within which the new culvert can be placed under the railway has now been identified by Network Rail. This fits in with other works planned by the railway around that time.

The reason behind this timing is that there is only a limited...

Shoplifters warned in the run-up to Christmas

Measures to combat festive shoplifting in Exeter have been revealed.

Instead of waiting for criminals to steal, Exeter Businesses Against Crime (EBAC) are taking a proactive approach by letting thieves know ‘We’re Watching you’, through a number of eye-catching posters going up around the city.

The message is clear ‘if you commit a theft, we are going to tell all our members – the shops and businesses - about you - don’t do it!’

EBAC works very closely with Exeter City Council’s CCTV Control Room and the Police. All members and the Police are connected via a radio...

There’s nothing better than a traditional family knees-up when it comes to our favourite way to spend the festive season, according to a local housebuilder.

In a survey of more than 2,000 people, the housebuilder found 67.8 per cent of us would choose home as the prime venue for our seasonal celebrations. Spending Christmas...

If you’re one of those people who just can’t wait for Christmas, or curiosity always gets the better of you, make sure you check the cupboards for the best chance of sneaking an early peek at your presents.
